I want to get a new knife and a couple I was looking at are the spartan horkos our the chris reeves pacific. Both are very nice looking knives made of s30v steel. Does anyone have a spartan and a chris reeves fixed blade, that may have an opinion on which is the nicer knife, our should I go on looks?

Both are solid, reputable companies that have excellent warranties.

Chris Reeve has been around for longer and his customer service is tried and tested thus I would lean towards them however I have not heard of any complaints concerning Spartan blades.

Pick your poison ;)

Get both. Can't go wrong with either one, but twop are better than one, right ?

viva la has a good point; see if you can pick each one up and test how it feels in your hand. As far as quality, beluga is right; they are both excellent companies. I don't have either knife; but I have other knives from both, and love them. Chris Reeve is the more "time-tested" company, so to speak. But Spartan has a great reputation so far.

Looks like spartan charges extra for the sheath, that's sucks and might make a difference if the knives them selves are real close in quality.

I personally would have no problems with either one. Get the knife you like the best.

let me rephrase...

I didn't care for the way it felt in hand, but thats just my opinion.

As far as fit and finish, the Spartan was top quality. I have never owned or held a CRK so I can't comment on his stuff. But they are both great companies.
