Hey guys,

I'm considering a Spartan. I've watched many review videos, and I've heard the good and the bad, and I'm convinced I need one, but I need to know if my hand will fit in the grip. Can one of you guys measure the gap for me?

Thanks guys.

Welcome to Bladeforums! I have a modified Spartan, where the handle has been ground down, and mine is about 4 1/8" to 4 1/4". A new Spartan will fit the vast majority of hands, unless you are extra beefy. Maybe someone with a virginous Spartan can give you a more accurate measurement.

Cutlerylover has beefy hands, and he can handle the Spartan:

Which knife do you need to know about. If you are talking about the Model II or Difensa I have a hard time imagining your hand being too big unless you have elephantiasis of the hand.

Never mind. I think you are talking about the folder posted above

Sure. Spartan measures 3 3/8ths inches horn-to-horn (entrance area for fingers) and 3 5/8ths inches groove-to-groove (inside circumference of finger cutouts).

The Spartan really does feel great in the hand and is a very rugged folder. I highly recommend it.

Hope this helps. Welcome to the Forums!

The spartan is a tank of a knife, I've used it to baton wood before :D
It's a bit harder to sharpen with the big belly. And the wave feature is amazing works every time I don't see how people say it rips up there pockets. Make sure you oil the knife I live next to the Coast line and my had some rust so keep it oiled and you will be fine. I got big hands i wear an xl glove size and it fits my hands perfectly. I would wait until the new model comes out with new steel:D
