spatula heat treatment

Anybody made a high carbon steel spatula before? I did a search of the forum but didn't find anything helpful. I thought it might be fun to make one for the wifey out of 1084 or similar, but I was wondering how I should approach the heat treat. I just have a forge, so fairly limited there. I was thinking I would need to surface grind it nice and thin, quench like normal, but then do a couple higher heat tempers. Thoughts?

A Damascus spatula would be awesome.
I like them a little springy, which is mostly from being quite thin. You don't really need edge retention, so you can temper back into low 50s.
