Spderco Experimental 2 g-10

I posted this in spyderco forum with no answers . I just got it yesterday . Is this a test knife or just a everyday production knife ? I paid 45 bucks for it . Dont no if thats a fair price but i liked it .I never seend them on the web so are they rare ?
