Speaking of Anvils....

What's the story on the Bucks we see that just have an anvil and no model number.

As in:

BUCK
(anvil symbol)
USA

No model number.....no other markings......so, are these just examples where the model number was mistakenly left off, or what?

I searched the archives, but nothing turned up.
 
they were b made for the 2002 one hundred years of buck knives centennial
some resellers list them as customs as buck also used the anvil as a custom mark..
some that collect customs only do not collect the ones with the anvil..

Dave, do the ones you've got have a plain blade or do they have the big etching on the blade?

I've seen them both ways.....are all of these sposed to have the big "100 Years" etching on the blade?
 
I also have several, not just 110's In fact I just received a 500 with the anvil date stamp. Few of mine have anything etched on the blade regarding the 100th year. Here are some 532's. The two outside ones have the Anvil Custom blades and the center one has just the anvil date stamp with no etching on the blade. The 500 also has the anvil stamp and no blade etch.

with out custom is is not a custom
it is then jest that the blade was made in 2002
and many wont have any thing about that it is the 100 year celebration

gee i really like that white one !!!
 
I got a lightning last week that is marked without the model number and has the anvil. Nothing on the blade but it is kinda small anyway.
 
I thought I remember someone saying the Custom Shop anvils faced the other way. Is that true or mythbuster material?

Nope, check the picture of my three. Two are Anvil Customs and they face the same way as the other one.

Thats what made me think of it Plum, but my eyesight isnt what it used to be and I couldnt read everything on the outer knives, thought maybe if they were LE's rather than customs, the rules may be different.

Well, that made me think, so I dug out two of my Custom Shop knives (not LE's) and the anvils all face the same way.

I stepped into this quagmire(2002 anvil tang stamp) and thought that it would make for good collecting/display.

I didn't realize all the different...some 2001:p, some/all of 2002:eek:, and some of 2003:rolleyes:, 110s had the medallion. I was going crazier than I ever thought I was!

Here are just a few of the examples...from the top: a 2001 tang stamp(TS) w/medallion, a 2002 TS wo/medallion, a 2002 TS w/medallion, a 2002 TS deer cutout blade w/medallion and a 2003 TS w/medallion.

I just had to step away and take a break...Preston

I know what you mean, I have wanted to get a 100th anny in new condition for collecting cause my current is a user. Picked one up the other day off the for sale sight and it has a 2003 stamp.
