Speaking of japanese archery

Got a link DIJ? Are these the traditional Japanese bows or something different?
Looks like it would be difficult to make a traditional Japanese bow out of fiberglass.:confused:
Oh yeah. How long and of what weight are they?
 
Nah, not too difficult. of course, I dont make them!
Most school bows are fiberglass. the bamboo ones cost 1000$ or more and are "sensitive."
The fiberglass ones are much cheaper and nigh-indestructible.
These are 221 cm long , 18, 18.5 and 19 kg draws.

Thanks DIJ. What does all the metric mean? Somewhere around 7 feet long and 36-38 pound draw? :confused:

Those are stunning, Danny. I really wish i had a good place to shoot a bow. There is something about shooting something as silent and powerful as a bow and arrow. Everything must be fluid to work. When done propperly the only sound is a trifecta of release, flight, and thud as the arrow sails through the air and plants itself into the target. Those are beautiful bows. Great, just one more thing that I want:D

yes they are pretty, that's one of the things people like about kyudo.

Danny, where do you get proper arrows? Difficult? Expensive?

the arrows are almost the same as wetsern style. they are just longer, from 85 to 105 cm long. In fact, I use Easton shafts.
Of course, the traditional reed shaft arrows are available, but at 100$ a piece, I aint interested.
(not until I am a master and can keep my arrows from skating across the rocky ground)

Actually, I order mine from America. Kojiki arrows are the best deal around.

MAybe Ill put a demo on the khukuri 2 dvd if you really want to see it.
