I know Mr. Koster has been busy but does anyone else make custom kydex sheaths for HI products? Something with either loops or a Tek-Loc.

I saw a bunch of topics in the cantina about guys making kydex sheaths for other forumites, i think it may have been Ferguson (Steve,) i'm not sure.

If you don't need it soon. I suggest you wait until Dan has time. His kydex sheaths are just great. Eric from OS/T makes great kydex sheaths, but I don't know if he is experienced with khuks (less than Dan, that's for sure).

Also, the Bushcraft knife rush is over now so you should drop Dan a email ;)

Leatherface should be able to make one for you. I have one that he made and it's just great.

I'd be happy to provide anyone with instructions on how to do it themselves...

Kukri kydex sheaths give me fits and take me longer than its worth (got way too many other things on my plate...:()

But the kerambit, Kumar Karda, etc...those size (less than 12")...I can definitely still "sneak in" a kukri sheath here-n-there. Most times, the turn-around time is just a few days.

Nice avatar, Steve. :D

You kinda remind me of....hmmm.....this guy:

j/k steve...hopefully you know I'm just teasin...:D

Dan,

It's a Seax so something drop down. Time is an issue for me. Even willing to support a local forum member if they build one with a TekLoc or sumptin' like that.

The seax is not good in kydex...:(

Nothing to "grab" onto....lock in place. I've tried...and have given up. *shrug*

It would be a headache to make a sheath for something that is long and curved. I remember this thread, but those are more modern looking kukris.

Maybe a deep pouch sheath with a piece of leather or nylon strap over the top to hold it in? Kind of like the old holsters for the .45 with a cover over the top. Kydex sheath, with a leather strap from the back, over the top of the handle, to the front, with a snap.
Here's the seax in question.

Edit: Dan, I know it's all in fun. I've been compared to worse! LOL

Thanks Steve!!!!

hmm

I agree with dan that there isnt much to hold onto with that design

hmm

how about a quick draw style rig?? it might give it enough friction for a secure hold

I'm just thinking vertical drop with TekLoc for a belt. Almost a simple sheath without serious retention but enough to keep it in place.

Try some Neodymium magnets, 1/2x1/8" exert over 6# of holding power, easy to insert into kydex, set 1 or 2 and the seax WILL be secure. good luck.

great way to magnetize your blade, attract iron filings, lathe turnings, shop scrap & slag, stick your body to the car door, attract chicks with metal inserts in odd places, and leave a conundrum for archaeologists of the future to wonder about why the ancients magnetized their steel weapons. ( i saw a discussion on a well known weapons forum about varying magnetic fields in an indian sword blade)

Chicks dig magnets! :)

Okay, all I wanted was a simple kydex drop sheath. Maybe I'll play with some leather too and look for the Kydex sheath making tips. Nothing fancy, just a drop sheath. Anyone have photos of alternate Seax sheaths?
