In another thread I mentioned that I once owned a Benchmade 970ST, the titanium version of the CQC7. I had two of them actually, and I sold them both to a friend in Michigan.
He owed me some money, and I found that he had used one of the knives, and left the other NIB. I agreed to take the knife in leiu of the debt. Nice guy, he shipped it 'red.'
Over coffee this morning, I dragged out the Edgepro and laid out the strategy. Leave it NIB for cash, or actually use my toys. The bevel was actually quite nice, and both bevels joined evenly on the flat of the blade, and not all of the BM's did.
I slowly and lightly polished the blade, careful not to nick the cosmetic part, used the 4000 series tapes for a high polish, and gently polished off the burr.
Still not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but definitely a user for wet stuff and a great 'truck knife' where lack of care might be a factor. I left my dear Strider AR at home today, and I'm lugging the 970ST. We'll see what happens.
