Hi y'all,

After reading the comments in the other Vaquero thread I posted it seems that some people were in favor of having the serrations ground off and that's exactly what I did a few days later. I sent it and a little money to Josh at PVKAT and today I got it back and its better than ever!

He double ground the blade to make sure no trace of the serrations remained. It only has a 1/4" trace in the center of the blade and a 1/8" trace at the very end near the handle. You can only see these when you hold it up in the light and look strait down at the blade. Actually, I was just looking again and I was unable to find the one in the middle.

I am a very happy camper.

Sounds great.....I have always liked the look of the VG except for the bread-knife edge.
Just curious : did you discuss the issue of edge hardness after the grinding?
Although, I am sure, whoever did the grinding would have been aware of the risks.

Hi Brian, I never thought about it.

I'm sure if josh had been worried he would have contacted me.

I have been finding stuff to use it for all day and the edge is holding up fine. I really like it and I can't wait until it gets dull so I can sharpen it!

Didn't know Josh was doing this kind of service.

(and we're emailing each other almost on a daily basis, hehehe). I think I'll ask him if he can do the same to my VG. Been wondering how I can get rid of those serrations.

Thanks for the great tip!
