I caught "The Hunted" while channel surfing last night (again) - at the begining of the movie, did Tommy Lee really describe it as "a saw blade on the back, and a FILLET blade on the front"? I would like to see him fillet a fish (properly) with the Tracker. By the way, what different purposes are the flat section and the curved section of the Tracker blade for?

I too, heard him say fillet as I watched that same movie. Are we missing something here? Or is this just typical Hollywood. Also, am I right in assuming the killer made this complex knife in the woods with a handmade forge? How did the handles turn out so nicely?

No. He did make a forge at the end and bang out a crude copy of his original tracker knife. He wrapped the handle with something.

Saw the movie. Now while I would be fine with a Tracker as a wilderness tool, it would not be my choice for a military knife. The blade shape is too specialized for Wilderness Survival. Of course to Hollywood it works fine because it's a dramatic looking blade shape and they get to sensationalize it.

I think the idea of flat section is for use like a small hatchet, chopping and splitting etc.
I'd assume the curved section would be for skinning.

A sheathmaker and knife nut and user I know, simply said after making some sheaths for some, "An answer to a unasked question".

Yes, I know he was quoting Cooper I think, but it fit.

If it had a can opener attachment, there would probably be an infomercial selling them.

Just my .02.

Rob

"An answer to a unasked question". - Cooper is good for quotes, right up there with Churchill IMO.

But, based upon the fervant response this type of knife can generate, I'd say someone asked (not me, but I'm mostly "citified" in uses for my knives).
