Speaking of Wayfaring & Exploring...

I enjoyed it too, left a comment once it gets approved. I was stating it is a good idea to be aware of your surroundings and what is happening as a way to prevent stumbling into a situation where you may have trouble extricating yourself.

Added Note: I was trying to use some bigger words...took me awhile. :p

Yes, I agree. Awareness is key, and I am still writing a good bit of urban material, which involves a lot of thought on urban situational awareness and threats and resources. I have been thinking lately that maybe my being hurt so badly, repeatedly re-injuring it trying to work in the woods, and being forced to focus more on issues in urbanized terrain in my work, is God's way of nudging me into focusing more on subjects I know a lot more about than I have ever wanted to talk about in the past, because I have mostly tried to forget it until recently. I'm thinking maybe it is something I am supposed to be working on. Recently while out doing field research I knew the guy in the camp I was watching was a predator, once you have been face to face with them a few times the energy is unmistakable. I felt it when I saw the look in his eyes and I felt it when I caught him a way and photographed the inside of his camp, because of how he had some little girl's dresses not just in the camp but seeming to me to be on an odd sort of display, as if to bait a small child in if she saw the bright pink dress. I complained to local authorties and showed them the pictures, then finally blew it up on social media tagging the local park he was camping in. Then he was gone and the camp was cleaned up. I was told last night by some other homeless people I talk to now and then that he was arrested and is in jail, because he is a known sex offender and knew he wasn't supposed to even be in that park. I have some pictures of the side of his face, the name he goes by, and some pics of his camp I am trying to sort out how to include that in an article.

Lol, I have been writing professionally in various publications for almost fifteen years. But because of my being a high school drop out who grew up on the streets i too struggle with big words. I'm told in most cases they are over-rated anyway :)

good read. i really like the 1st pic:thumbsup:

Thank you Phillip. I'm glad you enjoyed the post and the opening illustration. The effects of the gaslighting I went through the last several years before the divorce, and trying to cope with the injuries from the accident afterward have had me struggling at times still, but I think I am finally getting some of my creativity back now :)

"I enjoyed his ideas and now look to see what other little bits of wisdom and experience he has gained through his wanderings. The first pic also looks like he was planning an expedition to explore parts unknown. I liked his comments about maybe needing to protect yourself much as our ancestors did. I have learned that it is a good thing to take a good look of your surroundings and what is going on, one does not want to walk Into a situation. Just my two cents."

Thanks Craig, I got hung up on some other things and forgot to go back and read your comments after replying to you here here. I just replied to you there tonight, but I'm doing it here also so you'll see it. I'll talk to miss @Outpost Allison after the holidays, and see if there is a way to set of notifications for comments on the articles I write. I liked having that feature on the old FF website, but I don't know if it's doable with this one.

I'm really glad you enjoyed the article. I try to include at least one of the lessons I've learned from my crazy wanderings in every article I write here. I teach a lot of different things to different students in my classes and presentations. A lot of it is about survival, some wilderness, some urban, and sometimes just surviving our being human, which can be a challenge in and of itself sometimes. Or at least it has been for me, and that compels me to share some of my experiences. In both wilderness and urban environments environmental awareness and knowledge of threats is crucial to survival but the threats in the urban areas can be more confusing and the predators can have better camouflage. I have a thing for exploring parts unknown and for reading and making maps :-)
