i know we are living in the 21st century and all but...

is there anything out there in the market that makes it easy to attach a knife onto a stick and turn it into a spear? if not then how would you suggest making an attachment that could accommodate an approximately one pound, seven inch fixed blader? like what ratio should the radius of the attachment pole be in comparision to the blader? and how long? what materials, etc...

what kind of knife are you planning to use? If you don't already have the knife, it'd probably be really easy to do this with a bayonet.

im gonna use a ka bar.

i was thinking of using para cord to attach the spear but this is not what i envisioned. i want to be able to attach the knife very quickly and para cord just won't cut it (no pun intended).

well if you have any machining skills, you could modify or make a new guard for the ka bar that would allow you to secure it to the top of a pole. Design wise, a ka bar is pretty similar to the m9 bayonet http://www.m9bayonet.com/ so it shouldn't be too hard to modify it to sort of work like one.

nah. wouldn't want to damage my beautiful ka bar knife. that would go against the design contest rules.

maybe i could mold the end of the pole, taking the shape of the ka bar. yeah. that would be within the design confines. but doing so would require a different chemistry makeup that includes maybe plastic or metal for the mold.

Just sprite trolling again.
