What would be the best way to attach a stock removal spear blade to the shaft. I do not have access to forging.

In the past I have welded the spear blade to a piece of pipe. The pipe served as nice solid socket for the shaft. Effective but not very good looking.

This would be a "using spear". Strength is of utmost importance. However, I still want them to look good/gracefull. These spears are used for wild hogs - which can make for very active game depending on how much they have been softened up first.

I made my spear points, just as arrowheads are made, with little fingers pointing out from right angles to the haft of the spear point. Two fingers each side for a three in. point, more for bigger spear heads, split or saw the haft and insert head, dope with epoxy wrap with rawhide smear each layer of rawhide with epoxy, coat final wrap and knot with epoxy. I haven't used these on hogs , but they stand up well to oak ogs, as targets. I cut my rawhide in 1/8 strips. If you don't have rawhide,I beleive Jute or cotton, applied the same way will work.
