I read that the blade of the bowie 2 is .28 inches and that of the spec bowie .25 inches. Bowie 2 weighs 12 oz whereas spec bowie weighs `11.2 oz. could anyone tell me whether the bowie 2 has as good a balance and feel and cuting edge as the tech bowie? sometimes the thicker blades have a more difficult time cutting.

the original SOG Bowie is .250 tick hollow ground not a good cutter.I had hard time to cut a cardboard box...

You're right the 2.0 is a little less tick.

but these are not the best cutting, slicing combat blade
i'd seen.

Most good combat blades aren't made with the primary function being to cut or slice but they do need to be able to cut and slice. I think that is why SOG does a thick blade (for strength in stabbing to deal with bone and cartilage) with a hollow grind (thinner edge better for cutting and slicing) to get a good mix of both attributes. I happen to like the mix, it functions well for most of my purposes, but other people with other priorities in knife use have differing opinions.
