I'm trying to get some pants for my Active Duties, and I opened bussecollector.com and got out my Vernier caliper. I'd just like to check with some of the more knowledgeable Hogs about a couple of things.
I've got three Active Duties - one that I think is a non-sterile Heavy Duty, .200 thick, green blade and standard black/green slabs; one I think is a sterile muddy AD from the miliganza, about .195 thick with brown slabs; and one I think is a non-sterile AD that was paired with a Leaner Meaner Street on steroids as a "EDC couple" from a Ganza (which I also have). Both of those are about .195 with black blades and standard black/green slabs. One other note...while the muddy and EDC Active Duty appear to be the same specs, what I believe is the Heavy Duty is ever so slightly shorter in blade length and handle position. I've got a kydex sheath for that, and the other two Active Duties (despite being thinner), only barely fit in it - and not very well.
If I remember correctly (the site is down right now), it said on the BusseCollector site that the AD and the Leaner Meaner Street were both .150, and the Meaner Street was .220; the Heavy Duty was .200 (and slightly shorter than the regular Active Duty).
So, here are my questions:
Were there some Active Duties that were made almost to Heavy Duty specs, but were still Active Duties...or do I have three Heavy Duties? Do the military contract knives or any special Ganza knife sets blur the standard spec lines? Does it sound like I'm correct in what models I think I have? And if the green bladed one is a true Heavy Duty, is it normal for it to be a bit shorter than the other Active Duties?
Thanks, guys! I'm trying to provide specs on what I have to a sheathmaker, to see if he has the same knives I have so that I don't have to send them in.
