So I just got my new Combat Master 8" sheath in today... my Chopweiler does not fit into it at all. I have to force it in with a lot of effort, and I had to get someone to help me in order to pull it out.

How could I get the plastic insert to be just a tad bigger? It seems the blade is slightly too thick and also too wide for it...

Thanks.

Take out the plastic insert. Get a pot of boiling water going and using tongs put the insert in. You will want some work gloves or something cuz you will have to handle the hot sheath. After about a minute take the inset out and try to force he knife in a little bit while wiggling it around slightly to widen it. You will need you keep putting it in the boiling water and repeating this whole process until the knife fits.

You can also use a heat gun or a toaster oven to warm the insert, but be careful not to heat it too much.

Good luck.

Thats weird...mine slid right in. It sounds like you got some good advice though. Just remember to go slow and easy.

I have the same set-up, and I also find the sheath works well for this knife with no modifications.

What size do you have? The large correct? It should fit, maybe the thickness of your insert is abnormal.

stupid question, I have a couple of Spec Ops sheaths, I also have the ones that Scrapyard sells with its knives, on the back of those the strap unsnaps and it is easy to attach them to the molle packs, how do the spec ops sheaths attach?

Follow Calder100's advice, and if that doesn't work, call Spec Ops and talk to Wes. The # is 1-866-773-2677. Tell him that you have an insert that is abnormally small because a knife that usually fits with no problem will not fit in the one you have. He will most likely send you another one free of charge. He took care of two inserts for me that were substandard.

My Chopweiler slid right into my Spec-ops Survival sheath...

Mine was actually a bit tight but I used a heat gun and worked it in. All good now. Boiling is probably the best option but I get impatient sometimes use what is readily available. :D

Mine was a tight fit too. I used a clothes iron on the highest setting and wraped the plastic insert in a towel. With the blade in the insert gently apply pressure with the iron and it will slowly form to the blade shape.

Dont let the plastic too hot or it will melt!

Stephen

Hair dryer on high heat works just fine too. As others have mentioned, don't let it get too hot.
