Does anyone carry an ASH1 in the large Spec Ops sheath? I have an ASH1 on the way via the BUSSE sale forum and already have a large Spec Ops sheath I use for my SW Chopweiler. The sheath literature says it fits knives up to .250" thick and the ASH shows .320", so I'm doubting it will work, but you never know. I will probably order a nice leather sheath from Chuddy Bear after I receive the knife, but would like to have something to use while I wait on the new sheath. Thanks for listening.

I tried this and failed!!! I don't know what I did wrong, but the knife did not fit in the Tube. Maybe I didn't boil the plastic long enough??? I have the large SpecOps (2 of them).

I've only had success with the LE. It fits in the 6" model of the Combat Spec Ops sheath. You have to take the screw out and then glue the insert but it works. BTW, I had a mother of a time getting the LE into the insert. Don't know how TL managed to put the 5/16" version in. But he did....see pictures of it!

I made the HHFSH fit into a large SpecOps sheath. I've explained how in about half a dozen threads.

I didn't have any luck with boiling water either so I'm going to give it another shot using a heat gun instead. Got my fingers crossed..............

Low heat in an oven on a cookie sheet and a lot of patience in fitting and refitting the blade has given me 99.9% success on at least 5 Spec-Ops sheath inserts.

A hair dryer can work as well. At point blank range for a few minutes, moving back and forth, the insert is like jello. I was surprised how soft it actually got.... don't leave it in your car on a hot day.

mymind, thanks! Any issues with the insert giving off an odor? I mean should a guy wait for the spousal unit to una__ the AO? That has me a bit leery of using the oven.

Very little odor for me. I just kept the range fan going.

When I tried this with a hair dryer and a heat gun I really struggled with hot spots.

My CG ASH1 fit the smaller spec-ops w/ no problem. I had to work it for about 10 minutes. Looks like maybe I had a freak liner that was a bit wider than other peoples. If any one wants to send me their liner I would be more than happy to do the same for them usinf my ASH as soon as I get it back. :)

Very nice of you.:)

Mine fits fine after a simple cut in the plastic, no boiling necessary. I just cut a slit in the plastic where the spine goes (about the same width as the spine)

I have the large survival sheath with the pouch in front.

I just ruined the liner. Spent almost an hour heating it and fitting the knife. Finaly it went all the way. I let it cool under cold water. When I tried to take the knife out it cut the liner like paper. It looks very cool and I pushed the knife in only to the grind line so I didn't have to remove the screw, but the liner is cut. I have to call Spec Ops, maybe they will sell a couple of liners separately.
