Spec Ops THE wallet... to wash or not to wash?

After over four years of daily carry, my THE Jr. is looking a little worse for wear. It's still 100% structurally solid, but it could use a bath.

Has anyone ever washed one of these things? And how well do the clear plastic windows hold up?

I need to get a new driver's license (cracked) and thanks to North Carolina's wonderfully high quality licenses, most of the color has leeched onto one of the plastic windows. Will this ever come off? I don't want it obscuring the view of the new license.

Any ideas? Or should I just replace it? I love this wallet and wouldn't hesitate on buying another one, but the one I have is fine, just dirty.

Leached ink never comes of. The wallet should be washable hand washing would probably work best.

If you get a new one, go find some thing >1/16" clear plastic (poly carbonate, lexan, PETG) and cut it to size (score with a knife works) this will protect the absorbent plastic.

I have washed mine a couple of times. I add hot water to Oxyclean in a small bucket and swish it around, then rinse. Works great.

How long does it take to dry?

After four years of every day carry, I kinda hate to see what color the water turns when I wash it.

After it soaks for a couple of hours or so in the Oxy, just rinse it and leave it outside in the sun for a day..... and then good as new.
