Spec War No more?

True enough.

The SPECWAR is going away. I don't like to use the word discontinued because it sounds so final. Shelved is more like it. We can always resurrect the model if demand dictates it be so.

Likewise, the Raven's, Blackbird's, CQC-7A's, and all the Mini-CQC's (withn the exception of one new model to come ;) )will meet with the same fate.

You may see some of these from time to time from us but they will not be in the catalog for 2003.

There it is, the straight poop. If you have been wanting any of these knives, now is the time. Dollars to doughnuts that these all become hot now.

I guess I need to buy a few more before they go away.:(

YEEEEHHHAAAAWWWW:D Now I got an excuse!!!:p

"with the exception of one new model to come"

What is that new model?

Cheers,
Damon

I took a look at the triton, it looks a lot like a Al Specwar, and i have heard of manual models, wave this baby, keep the plunge lock, offer a spear point, and it will rule the world.

Killing the Specwar would make sense if the Triton is going into production.

hmmm, hope the SOCFK is alive and kicking, the handle is a spec war, identical, have both and have compared (except for some grooves on the SOCFK the spec war doesnt have) and the SOCFK is my fav, luckily, have 1 spec war/2 SOCFK's so its not the end of the world, also know where a green handle raven SP is for $50, i think i might go get it monday............its about 99% or so, a few scuffs on the clip is all,

suprised they are cutting the mini CQC's though.......

The regular cqc7b seems like a mini to me. I am glad to see the mini, Raven's, Blackbird's, CQC-7A's, bright g10 green handles go. But I really like the Specwar design. The new folder designs (triton and persian) are exciting.

If does look like emerson has some neat stuff down the pipe.

The spec war is certainly a sexy looking knife, i just wish that they were all waved. I dont think that Emerson is killing all the Specwar handled models since nothing has been said about the SARK and the PSARK.

The CQC-10 looks promising as well.

I'm personally sad to see the specwar go. It has always seemed to be overshadowed by the Commander since they came out at the same time.
I only have one, a very early 99 model with thick scales. It is built like a tank and the chisel ground tanto has a thinner edge geometry than my CQC7's, SOCFK, and Commanders. It has always been the sharpest Emerson I have owned and it's easy to keep sharp. After reading one of the posts above, I took my SOCFK and Specwar out and they have slight differences in the handle. The Specwar is a touch longer, way thicker, and the palm swell is slightly more rounded on the SOCFK. I've always found the Specwar to fit my larger hands better than the SOCFK. And the extra blade length is welcome too.

Cheers

Peter

Patiently waiting for the CQC8

I am wondering why they are getting rid of the Spec War Emerson?

I have three spec wars, and like the features on all of them. It is a stout strong blade, with a great handle design. NASA even liked them!

I believe it probably has something to do with a new model coming along?

I bet the prices on spec wars will be going up once stock is dried up with dealers.

Anyway EKI puts to bed a couple models for the 2003 catalog, gone are the Raven, Blackbirds, Specwars, and even some mini CQC's.

ANyone have a picture of the triton commander? Did a search, only found 1 place that had it up for sale, but no images available

I had been asking about the Triton Emerson model for about 1 year off and on. I heard it was scrapped but now it looks like it may be coming out, I would imagine thats why they are giving the SpecWars/Ravens/Blackbirds the axe. That Triton model cought my eye from the start it would be the first aluminum handle Emerson, I heard about some production legality with the auto version and Kalifornia laws but I am waiting for the production version.

No more Mini B...:( Mine has been in it's box broken for about 6 months now...I should really send her in. I miss carrying that knife.
Matt

Over on the other forum,

Derek listed the discontinued knives from EKI

Discontinued officially will be:

CQC-7A all models
CQC-7 Mini models
Ravens
Blackbirds
Specwars

and all green handle models, no more green G-10

I bet the value of the above goes way up in a year or two!

I for one will rally miss the CQC-7A its a hell of a little work knife. I have carried one almost everyday since 2000, with no problems I love that knife!
I am getting another one for back up, I just bought 3 Specwars and on Raven.

I`v been debateing a mini cqc-7a or a mini-commander. Then i here you guys talk about discontinuing the cqc-7a`s. how much time before dealers are out?
