SpecBump - great knife in many respects. Excellent locking mechanism (too bad kersaw desided not use it any more), good seel CPM 154 (first run, I remember Kershaw promiced to make many SpecBumps with different steels, but it was CPM 154, Sandvic 13C26 and CPM S30V so far from Aug 2005), excellent blade shape with flat front area neare the tip. But I was lately very disappointed that I can not put my hair whittling sharpnes on it because of negative curve hear handle - it is veru hard to apply delicate pressure to this area. So for this reason knife lays in the box, until today I look at it again and decide that this is just too great knife to be unused.

I decided to make area near handle flat as well as front area - jyst continue edge directly to the flipper:

And this is SpecBump with SpecSpeedBump - modifies vs unmodified:

So now I have entire edge hair whittling sharp and can use one of my favorite knife again (I need different EDC because I will put Yuna Hard II to the manila rope test).

Thanks, Vassili.

I can definitely whittle hair with my SpeedBump. The trick is to use a radiused strop that will follow the contours of the recurve.

Good to see you're using your bump again. It's a heck of a knife.

Second Edition - I decide to make circular choil - looks bit better:

Thanks, Vassili.

ouch--use a homeade strop of thin leather around a dowel load w compound--triangle sharpmaker works for me too

Well, I like my edges to whittle hairs and this curve really prevent me to acheave this level of sharpness. Also I think final cut looks better and more useful having working choil.

For snapping issue - I never hear about like Spyderco being snapped in the hole area, I guess nobody use pocket knives as a pry bar. But of course this make blade little bit weaker.

Thanks, Vassili.

I was looking at it as simply reducing the distance from the crack propogating edge (micro serrations and such) and the hole for the lock.

Yes I understand - but this distance is same or even bigger then Endura or Delica have. It makes it weaker but it is not critical on my opinion.

Thanks, Vassili.

I'm sorry but that picture makes me cringe a little on the inside :( but all that really matters is that you're happy with it now
