Just thought I'd share this...
My Father-in-Law came over for his 62nd birthday last Sunday evening, and my 4-year-old Son and 5-year-old Daughter presented him with a wrapped box after dinner to open. Of course, my kids are into opening gifts, so they assisted in the tearing open of paper.
Once open and unwrapped, my Father-in-Law was the owner and first-time beholder of a CRK regular small Sebenza, which is what I carry and love. He knows I'm into knives, and probably thinks that's a little strange, but he is also a big, big fan of American-manufactured tools, of which the Sebenza is the quintessence.
Needless to say, he loved it, and while I originally thought about embellishments like graphics or inlays, I decided upon plain-jane, since I know that he will use and abuse it without qualms about asthetics, and being unaware and unconcerned about the cost, the way a Sebenza should be used (though some may frown on the abuse part
). Sometime down the line, I'll borrow it from him, service it, and take a few pics to post. I'm guessing it'll be nice and characterized with scratches, etc.
My Father-in-Law has been a father to me in many regards over the years, and he deserves the absolute best, which in the context of American-made tools, is exactly what we gave him for his Birthday.
Thanks!
