Special Benchmade 45 numbered edition.
4" 440C blade with old skool stainless handles. There are a few things that make this BM 45 special, ad I've listed them below. (Shown with comparison pics of a beater BM 45 I have.. not included in deal)
In a nutshell the numbered BM 45 (referred to as 45# from now on) was introduced in a limited numbered edition before the production version 45 was released. Here are some of the things I have noticed in my travels that are different. (I have owned a few since maybe 1998 when I first started collecting balisongs and was hot and heavy on them...)
1. Each 45# is different because of its hand ground nature. The blade was hand ground while the handles are mass produced. The blade is also marked with a unique serial number.
2. The unsharpened swedge of the 45# is longer and deeper than the production 45.
3. The primary bevel is higher ground on the 45#.
4. The production BM 45 unground areas have a "grooved" machine finish, while the 45# has a smooth finish.
5. The profile of the 'kick' on the 45# is more pronounced (in the choil area) and not rounded.
6. The tang pin on the 45# is larger than the prod 45.
7. The latch is longer on the 45#.
8. The handles are approximately 3/16" shorter on the 45#.
All of this truly adds a very distinct and unique flair to this discerning old skool piece : ) while it does sound like a lot of sales talk, I really can't help it as I just adore these old steel handle pieces. I never warmed up to the Ti handled balis. Call me outdated ; )
Note: when you see two balis in the pic, the beat up one is NOT the one I am selling but my user only for comparison. Any black marks you see in the pics is either grease or dirt, not staining.
Sheath is included but no papers, and not original box.
$270.00
