I've received my spyderco millie S90V CF and it is a GREAT knife, thanks to all that recommended it.

Does one have to coat this blade with oil regularly? I notice that the blade tends to attract finger oils. Does it have a tendency to rust or patina?

Many thanks!

My care of my EDC S90V Military has consisted of using, sharpening and using some more. It gets a drop of oil on the pivot when I remember (which isn't often) and usually gets wiped off on my pant leg before being returned to my pocket. It has no signs of patina or rust, even in the scratches. Try not to worry about it. ;) :D

I'm not sure the exact differences (high carbon content in the 90, maybe?), but I've found S30V to be extremely forgiving of "less than ideal" environmental treatment.

This steel is so hard and so rust resistant that it's important that you never use it. I advise that you send me your knife so I can store it properly for you.

It's not called a super steel for nothing. You really shouldn't have to care about it. Stab, hack, chop, and slice your way through pretty much anything with that knife. The only thing that's concerned my about my CF Millie is tip breakage. The tip comes to a needle point that looks a bit on the delicate side, but no one here has mentioned breaking it, so I figure it's alright. :)

Exceptionally fine folder. This is my first knife with an S90V blade and it keeps a sharp edge far longer than I am used to.

I only wanted to share my enjoyment... just received my S90V Military :D

I'd like to hear your impressions. Piter. My impressions?? I sold the sebenza I've carries for 5 yrs a week after carrying mine. I believe it is the ultimate working man's knife. I'd like to see the EXACT knife in a sub 3'5" blade so I could carry IWB legally though. That's what my Native is for, I guess!

A Paramilitary is in your future. ;)

saying that s90v is a great steel is an understatement. enjoy the knife and use it hard. it will not let you down.

I'm really pleased with that knife. I used to have S30V and 440V Milis. In fact the knives I carry (and use) these days are Reeves, Spydercos and one exception, which is framelock Emerson CQC12 (just because it's so cool and that's it). OK, for real "use" I carry S30V Sebenza or ATS-55 Police or (from now onwards) S90V Mili. It's not going to replace Sebenza for sure as these are two very different knives. Sebenza is perfect EDC size for me and I simply like the shape, concept, materials and precision of CRK. But when I need a bit longer blade, well... my new Mili might be an answer. Kind of "weekend EDC". I'll let you know for sure after a week or two :D
