I just received this special khuk over the weekend, a custom ordered good-luck knife for my new son. It's a 22-23" Gelbu/Hanshee hybrid, weighing in at a svelte 26 ounces! Made by kami Purna and engraved with my son's name along with good luck symbols. Auntie also threw in a surprise, a very nice 12" AK made by kami Ganga as a gift for Noah! I am elated over this knife, it is truly spectacular, and the length to weight ratio is amazing. It is nicely hollow forged even with such a thin spine. The dark wood handle is perfect. It really feels alive in the hand. This one is a keeper for sure!

Here are a few pics. Enjoy!

OMG!!! I am soooo jealous right now. Wow man, congrats! That is my type of kukri, it's a lean mean fighting machine.

Beautiful. I may have to get a Purna Hanshee someday. What exactly is Gelbu in this one and what's Hanshee?

Thanks, guys. As a side note it was nice to see the kamis have gone back to the old marking techniques. Purna's bull head mark looks really cool on this one.

Yes, it looks great! Much better than those centerpunch dots.

Though I have a punchdot Purna, and his mark looks quite good in dots. He does his close enough together that it makes for contiguous lines without looking like electropencil.

I had to explain to my wife that the swastikas are in fact hindu good luck symbols and not the nazi kind, LOL.

That is awesome Phil! Noah will be very proud of that special knife in a few short years!

The hollow forged blade (almost like a wide fuller) is Gelbu. The narrow and very curved profile from hilt to tip is Hanshee.

David nailed it. It also has a curved spine which is hanshee, but also a very slight shoulder where the sword of shiva ends, which is gelbu. The pronounced drop to the blade is also all hanshee. I didn't really specify, just said make it a hanshee or gelbu or hybrid of the two, and I left almost everything except approximate length, handle wood, and Noah's name engraving up to the kami.

That's a beautiful blade for sure. Nice to see the kamis making an effort to keep the weight down on the fighting blades.

Very nicely done philllll! I love the length of that one and the hollow forged blade looks a lot like your brass Millenium Rose Special. The AK edge profile looks great on it! Sweet and one of a kind!
