Sal, please consider ordering a special run of Viele's in ATS-55 or VG-10. The Viele is a great knife with an incredibly smooth action. I have always felt that it should be available in higher carbon steel than AUS-8.
Although I don't know the ends and outs of manufacturing, I guess that a change in steel would not cause any increase in tooling. It would probably just sell you a bunch more Vieles!

Oh no, you're not !

I'm at the point now where I want all my knives to be in those higher performance steels (VG-10, BG-42, CPM440V, etc) (and Talonite, Boye dedritic cobalt), because I feel I'm getting more value for my knife dollar that way. Of course, I don't have anything against some of the tool steels in applications like the Becker line, but for high tech folders, you gotta love the high performance stuff. My .02

You bet.
A third Viele would be nice.

I only have the CF Dragonfly to compare with.
Butt in my humblest of opinions, keep the micarta.

Let it be coral, burgundy, blue or teal.
Keep the heft, tapered butt, and sensual feel.

Much more a committment than mere possession
This knife more than others defines my obsession.

Sorry, I got carried away there. I'll get the plainedge out and flick myself to sleep.

(funny thing, this is the only Spydie that I can enjoy fondling without opening)

You're right about the CF on the dragonfly, when you put it like that I've gotta withdraw my earlier suggestion

I'd love an excuse to buy a second Viele. Maybe CF/different colored scales, a Torx pivot pin screw, and upgraded steel would provide me with one...
