Over the years of knife collecting, you will buy knives, sell some knives. But, you always keep one knife forever. What knife is that? Or maybe it's knives? I know mine just so happens to be my very first knife, I don't even know what kind of knife it is. All I know it's about 1 1/2 inches long, has fake wooden handles, and it being held up by Superglue... Back to the question. What knife will you guys always keep?

My Father gave me my first knife. A Swiss Army which I will always keep.
But this gem was the first knife I ever bought myself. Cheap carnival junk....but its a keeper :)

My grandmpas buck 110 and a north woods tank my friend gave me. On a side note has anyone heard of north woods? Cant fond it online

In the beginning of my collecting, there were just a couple knives that attained irreplaceable status, both of them A. G. Russell knives (damascus lockback with quince, titanium linerlock with quince, both still permanent). As I've accumulated more knives, and traded them off for others, I've gotten to where the knives I keep are mostly permanent fixtures in my collection. I'm at about 75/25% on knives I'd probably never give up vs. those that may be traded at a later date, and this is of about 70-75 knives. The keepers will most likely be passed on to my kids, when my brief time on this world is at an end.

Knives of note, which truly are NOT going anywhere:
Microtech LCC D/A Gen II
Benchmade 730 CFHS
2011 Bladeforums Traditional GEC Easy Open Jack
Kershaw Volt 3600
Kershaw Tyrade in Titanium

Buck 119...

Got this when I was about 12. Went to the store one day with mom and my grandfather had died. I guess she thought I could use a pick-me-up so she gave me $50. I was fascinated with knives at this point in my life, so I gravitated right to the sports section and picked out the 119. At first she said, "You really think I'm going to let you get a knife that big?" and I said, "You said I could get the Rambo one at the army surplus store when I turn 13." She thought for a minute and said, "Yeah, get it, at least that one is actually a good knife."

That was 12 years ago and I've still got that one. I've thought about trading or selling it a couple of times, but now I've just had it for so long I don't really want to get rid of it.

Otherwise I've got a Schrade + Stockman and a few Old Timers that belonged to my grandfather and father. Obvious sentimental reasons for attachment there.

The Normark Big Swede my grandpa gave me. I used it to field dress and butcher my very first deer. That thing will be given to my grand kids. (hopefully they become knife nuts too)

All prized by me, but the Pearl handle Q-36 is the most special. I will only be adding to this collection, not subtracting.

My Schrade cliphanger (lost the clip).

My Le Thiers.

The Ripple my son got me for Christmas.

One knife? You must be kidding! Ain't no thing!

I'm thinking about buying a Cold Steel XL Espada. Based on its looks, that's got to be a knife I'd keep. (If I had one.) It's a gorgeous shiny knife that any pimp would be proud to own! It would definitely be a safe queen. But there are others as well. I have a Rajah I that's also gorgeous, and I don't think I could part with it.

There is a box of knives that I wouldn't part with, but the ones in my bugout bag are a Buck Hoodlum and a Rajah II. The knife closest to my heart, though, is my Cold Steel XL Hold Out. That's a knife everyone should own!

I have 3. 2 Al Mar knives, a double edge Pathfinder and a Alaskan Bowie. Then I have the Marbles Woodcraft that was my Grandfathers.

I have a knife that belonged to each of my grandfathers. One is a no name friction folder, and the other one is a 3 bladed Henkles with bone handles.

My first knife, a Case 2 bladed pen.

A Buck Stockman with the indented bolsters

Buck 110

Fixed blade Mora, first knife I purchased with my own money.... $1.50

Christy knife

Only knives that I won't ever get rid of, I got when my dad died (and my mother still claims them, though i currently have them). A buck fixed blade (105 I believe) taylor/seto 3 blades folder(which I know very little about), an off brand 110 copy, a schrade LB7 (I think, it is labeled by the company that he worked for), and a china made skinner.

I had a few more modern knives, but all of those I could give up. If I get my grandfathers knives when he dies (I do not want him too) those too will never be given up.

I will never trade, sell, or give away my Spyderco Delica 4. I bought it in Montreal while on vacation with my girlfriend and her family for 20$. Best deal I've ever gotten on a knife in a store. The main reason I won't part with it is because of the sentimental value it holds, given the timing of its purchase.

Another knife that will likely never leave my collection is my ColdSteel Paradox. Even though Butterfly knives are illegal in Canada, I can't help but love the design and feel the need to own something similar, besides the Balisong trainer I also have.
