Here is a Damascus that I have wanted to do for sometime. I call it "Special Melt"...derived from some conversations with Bill Bagwell...he used to call some blends he would do the same.
The main ingredients are cable and 1084 powder....amongst a few other things....but I added a few other processes to get what I wanted.
I like the pattern...but I was going for performance and tight welds.....
I ground this blade to a thin edge profile and after heat treat it cuts better than any damascus I have done. The flex on a brass rod is scary!
Another note is that the steel itself, even in an annealed state, was very tough to grind.....
She's an 8.5" blade....rest of the Bowie to come when I get all the parts together.
