I had a customer ask for a Nessmuk with a 6" blade, and 5 small brass pins. This is the resulting knife and sheath. Please excuse the lousy pic.

almost makes me think of a butcher knife more than a nessie with that blade length, but its a nice knife for sure

Yes it is oak, lightly torched to bring out the grain, then finished with hand rubbed linseed oil.

I like oak, I find it a pitty not many knife makers use it.

Do you mean, what I think you mean with 'torched'?
Did you use a flame from a torch to bring out the grain?
I will trie that myself, I like the looks of it.

I used a propane torch with the wide spreader tip, then LIGHTLY ran it up and down the handle. I then used 0000 steel wool, then the oil. Here is a pic of my old Wetterlings axe I did the same way.

Thank you, there is a lot of oak around where I live, this adds to the options one has with this wood. I'll trie it :)
