Special Projects

My post about the Union contest to win a Buck with a special logo on the blade brought another question to mind. I checked the rules and they are giving one away each month, but it doesn't say how many months the contest runs.

How many knives does a customer have to order to get a Special Projects run made at Buck?

I've seen the black Micarta's that were made for a customer that was a run of 50 it's said.

well last i heard 200 for most
now if a bcci member wants to order
it could be that they will take an order of 100
or less
we will have to wate to see what some one at buck says..

Like Dave said, I also have heard the minimum number is 200; however, I think most of know that club fundraiser knives and annual member knives usually run around 100 to 150. I think the only ones that are most likely going to give us any definitive information in this regard are Joe and/or CJ.

I don't know what the current policy is but the last I knew the minimum was 100. Dust to Dollars was able to have two different knives made of 50 each to get to 100 some time ago. FYI.

The "official" minimum level is 250 units. That said, circumstances and customer may impact the actual number.

Bill, let's assume someone like Mr David Meier of North Virginia was to propose a limited run of Buck 110's...and you quoted him a price of, say, $50 a knife...he'd have to pony up $12,500 for the run of 250??? Money up front, of course...

What kind of wait could he expect??? Would they be shipped en bloc, or in batches???

I actually expect the price would be higher per knife, as Mr Dave would rather have something different than the production 110, but just as an example...

(This question/idea/proposal comes up periodically, maybe we can use this as a rough guide)

This is why I don't work on weapons, knives, or motorcycles when I'm tired...It only takes one mistake to ruin *lots* of work...
