Special version Schrade Kentucky Rifle

Ebay version of phishing. We'll see if it comes down in $200 increments. I've never seen that one before, and it is pretty.

Ritchie/Stewart says $12.50 for the collector grade. No issue price listed for the Premier Grade.

So much for phishing, someone bought it at the Buy It Now price:eek:
Really cool to see, I've always wondered what that Premier grade looked like:thumbup:

The info out there seems to have dried up on these. I recall AG Russell having it on his site a couple of years ago, but it seems to have been removed. I think that particular knife was one of the Premier grades (Gold engraved bolsters, gold rifle, and Shaw-Liebowitz engraved blades). Quite the coup getting #1, quite pricey too!. I think the numbering went something like:

Premier - #1 - 25
Excelsior; silver bolsters and rifle plus master blade engraving- 26-300
Collector; nickel silver bolsters and rifle - 301 - 12,000(although they go up into the fifteens at least)

The Collector grade at the time went for $12, but I don't know what the other two grades went for. Here's a shot of the that particular knife, plus an Excelsior (one of my early photography tries:o) and a Collector:

Yes indeed, I looked in Levines 4th, and now I am gnawing on a cold Rack of Crow:

 Is that one the item on the far right?

Yes it is, WOW!!! I didn't think they were that high! I guess the buyer got a bargain:eek::eek:

Aye, Aye, Aye! I guess he did at that. Gold fixtures with Delrin handles :D

And that is a 2004 collectors guide too. It surprises me to see how many of levels there were on several of those series in that chart. All of those and as many more on the preceding page are listed as being from AG Russell's "Kind Collectors Club".

AG looks in here frequently. I wonder how many of these 1 of 25 beauties are accounted for?

Dont know about you but I have never paid even $400 for any knife in my collection to date and that includes the Russell Barlow Commemorative #00001 from 1975 with all bling, the mint 2OT and 3OT <only one example seen to date from the half dozen made according to Herman Williams> from the Schrade wall collection...or even the gold Calendar Cut Co plus many more "scarce" Schrades from the wall including #00001 Liberty Bell, both scarce Walden Diving knives MIB or the unique Herman Williams stag brass bolster hunter folders. Its inconceivable to me for anyone to pay more than $400 for 'any' Schrade knife.............unless I'm selling! The Kious, The Rodgers Changers, Schrade Barnett collaborations were all listed with high retail but did not sell for anything like 'list' price certainly not paid by me and mine are all MIB.......to each his own. Hoo Roo
P.S. Its definately a very attractive desirable knife but to me so are all genuine Schrades!

I've seen that list before, but after doing some research years back it seems like what was actually released was 15 premiers at $1000.00, 85 excelsior grade at $500.00 ,and supposidly 12,000 collector grades at $12.00, i have seen # way above 12,000. I have # 85 in excelsior grade, never heard of one over #100. This is the first premier grade i,Ve ever seen, i probably would have tried to get it to fill out my collection, but just not that fat right now, happy collecting,G.M

24 solid 14k gold, hard to remember almost 40 years ago, but I think they were $$250 each. I have bought a few back and resold for up to $2,000 I wish I had seen that one.

I did Excelsior on even 100s #200, #300 and so forth. I do not know where my head was.

The numbering machine was new and instead of replacing the numbers they missed they just kept running the numbers to 15,000 and for all I know they made the extra knives as well. Then they sold half of my knives to Belknap hardware. I was too small and did not havbe the money to sue.

just for the record.

Thanks for the info A.G., and the additional info as well;) The old insider tidbits you provide here and elsewhere are priceless

I just bought a "plain" version of this, mint, for $30 at a show. I was impressed with the workmanship and detail of the rifle on the handle, but had no idea it was such a bargain. Now I'll take it to the next show with an inflated idea of its value. I see the price quote above was during 2005. What should I ask for it at my table now?

Gary, they're generally selling for between forty and sixty bucks on Ebay. Maybe a bit higher with the box and paperwork.
