Speciality metals ?

Greetings:

Mierly curious as to what other blade enthusiasts
think of BG42 and VG-10 Super stainless steels
for use in blade making?

Opinions on:

Impact resistance?

Edge keeping?

Corosion and oxidization resistance?

Impact shock dispersion (example: does the metal
vibrate excesively?

Durability of the metals based upon differnig blade lenth, width, and thickness ?

Also any comparasons between these stainless steels and non-stainless high carbon steels
as far as the above examples are concerned.

and any other opinions you'd care to input...

See if you have a Metal Supermarkets in your area. I think they have access to BG42. I don't recall them having VG10. Most US companies (i.e. Sheffields) will ship to Canada.
