So I'm looking for a good knife to clip to my climbing harness (I climb towers). I have an older Camillus pocket knife with a sheeps foot blade and a marlin spike on it, but it's a pocket knife. Climbing with a harness on, you can't get in your pocket, so I'm looking for something with a clip, maybe even a serated blade. I've found this, http://www.worldknives.com/products/myerchin-titanium-crew-pro-nautical-rigging-knife-t377-2613.html
But I'm not familar with the company, I don't have a lot to spend, but would like to shop a little bit before i buy one. One handed opening of the blade would be great too, for obvious reasons. Does anyone know of a knife like what I'm describing, with a marlin spike? Thanks in advance. Mark.

Camilus still make one ( Camillus 6 1/2" Carbonitride Titanium Marlin Spike Knife ) It seems to have thumb stud for 1 hand opening.

I'm no expert and I don't know exactly what your job entails, but when I've worked harnessed, I tether the knife to the harness with an arm length lanyard and attach the knife itself with a small carabiner. I know that description's not great, if you want a picture let me know.

The other option is to get a kydex sheath made, so you can carry the blade side open.

The spyderco is a good one, but I really want the marlin spike. I've used my current one for everything from getting knots out of ropes to prying and use as a spud (lining 2 holes your trying to get a bolt through). The Camilluslooks great, but it's just an updated version of what I have. I was hoping for a pocket clip, I didn't want it just hanging on a caribiner flopping around. Maybe a kydex sheath to just hold it while it's closed (on the harness, not in my pocket) could work. Is Spyderco, benchmade, kershaw, etc, made a version with a spike I'd be all over it.

A. G. Russell sells a modern "Seamaster" knife with multiple serration options, and a locking marlin spike. Not sure about a clip, though. A phone call should answer that question.

Beat me to it. That's exactly what I was going to suggest. The David Boye dendritic cobalt boat knife is another well-respected choice.

The A.G. Russel and Boye knives shown and mentioned above are both great, but a little out of my price range. I'll keep looking, but I think I've seen just about all of them now. Just not much of a selection for what I'm wanting.

Kershaw National Geographic carabiner knife or Petzl(French climbing equipment)or as
stated Spderco remote release. No spikes.
