Years ago growing up on the farm I remember seeing in one of the farm magazines a knife that I have never actually seen or heard about since.

It was called a castrating knife and if I remember correctly it looked like a Barlow with a hook in addition to a clip and spey blade.

Any ideas???

The only castrating tools I've ever seen our veterinarians use is whats she refers to as the Newberry knife.. Which frankly, is not a knife at all, but looks more like a sharp pair of pliers.. I have to say it works pretty quick and with very little blood loss for the calves.

I'd like to see what you are talking about if anyone has one?..

Look under Veterinary knives, in Levine's Guide To Knives.

Sorta makes you suck it up just looking......

I know several that make them out in the pan handle of Texas that look like a straight razor with a handle. The cowboys use the heck out of them.
