Specific Type of Folder

I am not real familiar with the various folders out there but I have tried a few. So I need some suggestions for folders that fit these specs. First of all I prefer frame locks. Secondly I like a knife with a good front finger guard usually incorporated into a flipper. Something like you see on the Hinderer XM-18, ZT 0301-0302. I'd like to keep it under $300 and am open to less expensive as well. Nothing too small. Open to various steels and handle materials.

I currently EDC a Spyderco Lil Temp and really like it but am looking for a little something different now. So frame lock and finger guard.

Thanks.

Boker Trance. This knife must be handled to see it's potential. And-$25 to $30 price range!

Plus one on that; for the price it is no big loss if you hate it.

I'm carrying one right now...and I have a fleet of Spydercos. ;)

doggone it! I have been reading of this trance for quite some time now. I finally jumped on knivesplus and ordered one.

I'll report back my impressions.

Tyrkon---you better look at that "lil' Temp." again. That's a brute of a folder.

My suggestion is to consider putting a bit more money into it (you're already willing to spend $300, so I'm assuming money's not such an issue) and looking at one of the higher-end tactical folders.
The Chris Reeve Sebenza is the first that comes to mind; this is my EDC and I guarantee the fit and finish will blow you away. However to be fair there are a number of alternatives. Strider Folders, for instance, are built tougher than you're ever likely to need, *no matter what.* Cold Steel makes a number of tactical folders that are among the most elegant-looking I've seen; the Caledonian Edge, the Talwar, and the [very] new Espada in particular. Benchmade's higher-echelon knives are also worth a look.
More within your $300 and under notation, there are only a few really great examples I can think of.
One is the Kershaw Spec Bump, perhaps the prettiest knife I've ever seen; you could also go with the larger Offset if you want a folder that's more of a Juggernaut.
Two would have to be some kind of Emmerson; Ernie's tactical folders are well under your price limit and still some of the best hard-users out there.
There's a lot of tactical folders on the market right now; it's mostly a matter of sorting an actual well-designed user from all the cosmetic junk. Good luck with your decision.

This one has everything covered (exept the price, it might be a tiny weeny bit more expensive:D)

Kershaw storm II? about $40, 3.5 inch blade, has a framelock, flipper and big finger guard. Plus if you hate it, its not $300.

Tyrkon---Now I know why you went with a Kershaw-ZT. That folder looks like a folding Busse!! If there was such a thing! Enjoy it.

+1 on that. the storm is a great knife for the price and cheap enough to give it to me if you dont like it:D

Kershaw Groove. You can't go wrong.

+1 I read the fist post and immediately said GROOVE. It's probably my favourite knife in my collection. SO much fun to flick open with the flipper. If you do it just right, people think it is assisted. Feels amazing in the hand, good framelock, and WAAAAAAY under your budget.

If you could find a Kershaw Blue, or Green Bump, those are top quality, and meet your criteria.

Discontinued, but worth a look, search, or quest, is the Camillus CUDA Dominator. I wish I had bought a second one when they were still available.

You could also look at the Kershaw Ti-ZDP Mini Cyclone, or Leek, both of which are available for around $150.
