Can someone post the specs for the Rat man du? overall length, blade length, blade width, blade thickness, etc. Thanks

I found this in a post from 08-19-2007 by Stephen Tolar:

Here are the specs on the Ratmandu:

Lengths are Approx
Blade Length 4 3/4"
tip to edge of scales 5 1/8"
Overall Length 10 1/4"
Stock thickness 3/16"
Steel is Through hardened SR101

I also found this scaled image in a post by mckrob:

to me the RMD is pretty close to a perfect all around knife, then couple it to the Chopweiler...excellent set-up !!!!!

Yep, the RMD put a lot of different knife features in one mighty package. Not too big, not too small, straight profile, great blade to handle length ratio and a clip point. As soon as I saw one in person at Blade last year I had to stick a couple in my bag. Unfortunately The Bully saw me do it and I had to pay for them, bastid! ;)

I think the Ratmandu varies from knife to knife mine is a good 5 1/4"+ and it's one of my fav's it use to be my number one, but then I wanted a robust 6" blade lenght and even though I think I have a nice stable of 6" blade knives like my Bokor Vox Rold, my S.R.K. , my Benchmade #156, and my Bravo 1.5 (well its almost a 6" blade ) and a few more that are close to 6", I wanted a tough knife with good steel but I didn't wanted it to look like a Tactical fighter, so I asked Trissy at Swamp Rat if I could have a Rodent 6 thinned down and the top gaurd taken off and she said I could have it done this way, their Custom Shop did a awesome job on my knife and now my knife look's like a beefy Ratmandu on steriods, I didn't think it would come out looking this good you can't tell it use to be a Rodent 6, now I paired my Rodent 9 with my Ratmandu, and my Rodent 7 with my Rodent 4, and my new Rodent 6 with my Rodent Solution, and I could always bring my Rodent Rucki with any pair it's a great knife on its own, it's excellent for chopping and when I'm setting up camp and or building a shelter I don't have to get a smaller knife to finish the job the choil allows me to use it like a smaller job and it's a great knife to baton with, it just looks big but very usable in the bush, as far as my fav I really like what they did with my Rodent 6 but the Ratmandu will always be one of my fav's even over my 3V Bravo 1.

The second sticky on this subforum has most. It'll help in other comparisons too.

What did you get the R6 thinned down too? I thought about doing the same thing, but I scored a BeefMandu in the Ganza. The R6 is about .010" thicker, .030" wider, and 3/8" longer in blade. The BeefMandu handle is the same as the RMD though, so your R6 handle is the biggest difference in the too, at least from my figuring.

Paul'ie strikes again.
With all respect, man, step out of the archives...(and throw a few periods in your posts).

Thanks elof. I never noticed the original thread date. The specs in the sticky, at least up until 2010, should still be valid though, right? By the way, you are doing some really great leather work. Keep stitching!

Hi guys, all I did was talk to Trissy at Swamp Rat Knife Works, she's a great woman that works at the Custom Care there, and I asked her if I could have the Rodent 6 thinned down and I explained I wanted the Rodent 6 a better slicer when I'm bushcrafting in camp and I also ask her if I could have the top gaurd taken off all that cost me $ 30.00 more, the Custom Shop did an excellent job infact you can't hardly tell it was a Rodent 6 infact it look's like a beefy Ratmandu on steriods, I'm sure you could ask her for specific angles, but I still wanted a robust camp knife and I asked her to tell the guys at the shop I wanted a better slicer and it came out beautiful, they do great work at tge Custom Shop and Trissy related my input just right, if your interested in a great 6 in her don't hesitate they do great work.

Oops sorry I mean if you want a great 6 incher, they do great work, sorry it came out different I didn't mean it like tgat, seriously she's a great lady and they do great work.

Hi Guys, one important note on my customized Rodent 6 is that it's a excellent chopper for a knife that size, the choil allows me to use it for my bushcraft in camp, I convexed the edge so now it's a Saber Vex Grind the relief edge is great for batoning, and it's still a relatively liter knife for a light weight that punches like a heavy weight, my friends have heavier knives that are not as good especially when chopping, I will always like my Ratmandu, but my new Rodent 6 is sure way up there.

Did they thin the handle as well or is it still thicker, actually is there anychance of getting some pics?
