Just version 1.0 ... but I thought this would be a cool way of holding about 126" of continuous 90lbs spectra cord around your neck. This was the 18" version, I could carry more with a 24" version. The Stainless steel mini clips and spinner would come in handy for something I am sure as well (clasp).

What do you think?

Not meant as a flame or anything, but I wouldn't want to have a loop of nearly unbreakable material around my neck for anyone to grab in the event of a scuffle. But I'm paranoid.

totally agree I had a buddy try to choak me out in kung fu with my paracord ballchain necklace once. Thanks for reminding me.

on this one though it would break away ... the continous cord is lightly melted together at the ends ... still, good call.

Maybe I could make the clasp in the front with a small earth magnet.

I have the same concern about having a neck knife chain or paracord used against you in a fight, or simply getting caught by a sweeper or branch in whitewater, because I wear them for tactical and utility. If the clasp can break away and if it can be up front [or if there are two], it is much safer. It looks very promising to me.

You can't always wear it under slung under one shoulder, although that sometimes works very well.

choking was my first thought on reading that title as well, maybe you could grab a breakaway connector from another lanyard, maybe the kind they sell for whistles, or i've also seen them on dog collars.

that's pretty cool actually, I wouldnt want it around my neck either but it could be good heavy lanyard or utility cord for keys etc.

Question, is the 90lb spectra the red-burgandy thread woven??? If so how did you weave it??? & where did you get that color anyway??? Spectra cord is very cool

I went to REI this weekend, and they were totally out, and said they will be until the end of the war.

Then I did an internet search, and found an outfit that had 5.5 mm Spectra cord, down to their last 30 ft, but it is black base, with the usual "climbing ropey" color weave, of, get this, pink and yellow. :barf:

I purchased it anyway, at $1.00 a foot it is not a major investment, and it's cool and all, but the burgundy cord is WAY cooler. Me want.

Ryan,

I found some nice spools with Spectra Beeswax treated Thread, 160 feet slightly thinner then dental floss and the best part $1.75 + 50 cent postage inside the US.

'Looks like a good deal, he doesn't mention the breaking strength though.
