So I just got my Spectrum in the mail. It's my first full sized Emerson not to mention "limited edition". My question is, the action is significantly more smooth than my other emersons. Does this have the new bearings I heard about like on the rangemaster? Also, it is inscribed on the back of the blade Ernest Emerson '2015'. It doesn't look lazer engraved like the writing on the front. Is this a mechanical inscription or did Ernest Emerson inscribe this himself? Thanks for any info people. I appreciate it.

I think Emerson engraves the signature himself. I don't think the Spectrum uses a bearing pivot.

I may be a single detent instead of a double like the older models resulting in a smoother feel.

I believe he engraves them by hand. Nothing automated about the signature.

Yeah, the man signs the knives himself with a engraver. The knife uses nylatron washers with a single detent layout which is quite smooth and fast out of the box. More akin to the Tiger, Regiment and Zealot in it's construction.

I like it more every time I look at it.

Thanks!! The blade shape was why the moment I saw it I had to scoop one up. Thanks again for the info. Pretty cool to have one "signed". :)

If you love the handle on the spectrum and the smooth single detent action, check out the Vindicator. Exact handle and single detent as well with a very "sturdy" (for lack of a better word right now) recurve clip point. I havnt been able to get my vindicator out of my pocket. It's a great all around design just like the spectrum.
