Haven't really done much buying on eBay for knives....done some selling there though...but this one was listed and it is my weakness Sebenza...the "P" designation.
Anyone care to take a look at item 280679908513 and speculate if they think it's authentic? I'm SURE hoping so.

Yes a little healthy gloating :D I am super stoked because I'm hoping it's genuine...sure had all the appearances of being genuine.

Thank you giant1....

I've have now gone through the cycle of emotion..
1) Is it real? It's a $400 risk
2) If I don't buy it someone will and I'll regret not taking the chance
3) Hope its real now that I've paid for it
4) Should I share my risky purchase with others will they think I'm a fool?
5) Ohhh, they're responding..they think it's a good catch, whew!
6) Let me go back and check my thread. I wonder if anyone else has responded
7) Let me go back and look at the eBay photos

I hope I'm not alone in my CRK addiction,
Lisa

Two of those pics look VERY suspicious to me. I feel sorry that you got trapped into an ebay scam. I'll give you $300 for the supposed "Sebenza" and just use it to practice sharpening or something. At least you can recoupe some of your funds. Just trying to help you ease the pain.....

That is just too kind of you dtmbinb...wouldn't want to put you out..I'll suffer the consequences. :D

Very nice grab, Lisa. Every now and then something like this will pop up for about 2 seconds on the aftermarket, then it's gone. Even though I am a bit jealous of course, I really love the fact that someone in our little community was able to pick up a significant piece of Sebenza history.

If you haven't experienced with one of the early models before, I'd like to hear your thoughts once you've gotten a chance to handle this one. The P's aren't exactly like anything else CR has produced since, but the differences are subtle. A most excellent score indeed.

I so wish Chris would come out with the P sebenza version again........Heck, call it the "C" Sebenza for Chris. It has all the features I love on the sebenzas. I like the 21 handle, but dislike the blade profile. I love everything about the regular sebenza, this is right there with it. A "P" sebenza has eluded me for a long time. Maybe someday !!! I can dream right ???

The funny thing is that Chris would adamantly assert that the 21/Classic IS the original design. Comparing the models side by side, I can't help but respectfully disagree. The blade profile on a P is almost exactly half-way between the classic and a Regular, which in my world is the perfect "Sebenza" shape. There are a few other small but significant differences that you can quickly observe upon close examination, such as the hand-filed thumbstuds, the mirror-polished hollow grinds, the hand-rubbed satin flats, the hand-filed jimping (courser than the current style), the polished radius spine, the texture of the sandblasting - oh mercy!

I'm getting more jealous of Lisa every minute!

Looks like the seller didn't really know what he was selling since there's no mention of it being a P Sebenza, or the significance of that, which is kinda funny since he mentions "If you're a serious knife collector..." in his description.

I'm going to enjoy owning this P sebenza...it won't be used though, just admired.

Would love some New P sebenzas...used ones are too hard to find.

If I recall correctly you own an "H" Sebenza...guess who's jealous now! :D

He knew it was older though...and that a collector might want it...he was right :D

Congrats on a great find!

Looking forward to some pictures.
Pictures and a YouTube video to follow!

Wow, great find! I got one recently, but paid just a bit more.
Give ya $386.00 for it. :-)
