Does anybody know the signifigance of the dates on the newer Specwars? Three of mine have the same markings 20100. Thanks.

Bladelaw:

If I'm not mistaken the date on your knives are 2000. What appears to possibly be a 1 is part of the logo of the Specwar which extends downward evenly between the 4 digits of the year of manufacture. If you use a loupe you will probably see this much clearer.

Well I checked and the markings are what I thought they were,20100 on each of the three knives under the Specwar label. Anyone with any ideas?

Sniper308: I checked a third time ( I need to get some more varied activities ). The "1" is directly underneath the vertical line in the logo, although it is not continuous. Anyone know for sure?

Bladelaw,
I checked my sample and it appears to be a continuation of the logo, the reason I say this is because on my sample the "1" is larger than the other numbers

The 1 you are seeing is part of the logo it is the emerson crosshair if you look close you will see ! : )

If you go to the Emerson Gallery post and page down to the pictures section, click onto the 1srt "pic" next to ES1-M. You will see a picture of an ES1-M next to a Commander, with the logos visible. The ES1 has an undated logo, with that "1" you think you see protruding below it, while the Commander has a date that looks like 918, but is in fact 98, bisected by the logo. The observed progression - knives with what looks like a 1, then knives dated "98", then in the next year "99", then this year "2000", make a strong case for assuming the "1" is only a part of the logo.

Ernie used the undated SpecWar logo until he started up EKI (in 98), at which time he started dating all the knives. With the vigor you've shown to expand on your collection, I have no doubt you'll soon acquire an earlier, non-dated custom, and you'll see first hand what the "1" actually is. I just hope its not a piece I'm trying for too!
