Specwar fixed blade

This isn't probably the right thread to post this, but I would really appreciate the experts input to this.

Currently I own 6 Emerson production folders. One of these is a Specwar. Now I have the opportunity to buy a brand new Timberline Emerson/Neeley Specwar fixed blade for 300 Euro at a local knife store. This compares to $300 and I would like to know whether or not this is a reasonable price. Note that when I would buy it in the US, then shipping costs may be quite high as well as the risk to unwillingly 'change' from owner on its way to Europe. Besides that, would it be a good investment? And how should it be sharpened. I sharpen my Emerson folders with a Spyderco Sharpmaker medium/fine stone free hand. Can I do the same for this fixed blade?

Your opinions are highly appreciated.

I remember that Emerson/Neely Timberline collaboration, but I don't recall the cost, nor do I recall the type of grind it had.

The blade profile was all Ernie - pretty awesome - but that's all I recall.

Anyone own one of these that can help?

I have the Timberline Aviator Knife.

It is designed just like a Spec-War. Designed by Ernie.
Timberline still sells them I think
This one is called the Aviator.

It is 8 3/4" overall 4" inch 440 C Blade
Kydex sheath.

I got mine for $169.95

Seems if this is the same knife $300.00 is a bit much.

The Aviator is just slightly smaller version of the SpecWar fixed blade I believe.

Here's a pic...

SpelAtHome if your interested drop me an e-mail, I know a guy selling these at $125.00 I don't know if he wants contact info posted, e-mail me.

I have the feeling SpelAtHome has the biggie.

I have an Aviator myself. My "car knife" for a long time.

If it is the original Timberline Spec-War then that price is good. Occasionally I run into guys at gun/knife shows selling the Aviators and telling people that they are SpecWars! Or SpecWar Emerson Designed Aviators!

Just looking out.

If you mean investment as in collecting, and possible resale if the future as its price appreciates, you probably would want to keep it in its original wrapping and box and dont touch it. Sharpening it will make it loose its value if you wish to sell it.

Thanks for the input, guys. It is definitely NOT an Aviator, but the real Emerson/Neeley Specwar. So it seems to be a good price.

DANJ,

You're right about sharpening the knife. If I am going to buy it, then I would probably keep it as a collector in stead of a user.
