It amazes me how after beating the shit out of the knife it still manages to lock up tight, just like it did new. I assume the thumb stud just keeps pulling in as the pin wears slightly because the stud is spring loaded. What a great design, this knife does not move one hair. Great work Kershaw.

Take a look at the Mini Mojo/Mojito. The Speed Bump's little cousin. Incredible knife!

Thanks for noticing . The Stud lock is an amazingly strong lock. It has three points of contact , It is farther away from the pivot than any other lock(less compound leverage)Hex shaped studs that rotate to ensure even wear over 12 surfaces, No drag on the blade for over 90%of the blade travel,Ambidextrous, and the lock is in the blade freeing up the left handle side to put whatever we want to in there. I would put it against any other lock currently available for strength, reliability, wear resistance, toughness and am confident it will prevail. Granted it takes a little getting used to because we are all used to framelocks or linerlocks but that is only temporary and we just need to retrain our heads and hand.

I agree Ken, the Stud Lock is a perfect lock. Plus, you never have to put your fingers in the path of the blade to open or close the knife. I can sit and open and close my Spec Bump all day just by moving my thumb in an arc.

I have the worst time getting used to any other lock again after carrying a Stud lock for even a few days. It is hands down, my favorite lock!

Agreed. When I carry the Mojo or Bump at first, I'm always reaching for the liner/frame lock. Then, on a switch back, it takes me a week to realize there's no stud lock...

I almost went insane the first week carrying my Speed Bump, but now it's more natural feeling than a frame, or liner lock. The stud lock is definitely a winner.

There's only one problem with the Speed Bump/Stud Lock combo...

I don't rotate my EDC's anymore, the Speed Bump just does it all for me. Great design!

The stud lock is very unique, safe to use, and is just downright cool. I love my Mojito, I use it more than my Speed Bump.

Let me tell you i have shown no mercy on this knife. It is my EDC knife full time. I use it for everything and has been a solid performer. This is hands down the best "work" knife i have ever owned. I will not hesitate to buy another, but at this rate it will not happen for a long time since this knife wont go away. Great product.

Yes this lock is the best design, it feels very safe and secure. Much better than a liner or frame lock IMO.

Also had to mention about speed safe. Its so simple and is such a great idea (dont know why it was not around sooner). It blows away leaf springs and coil springs autos by far and is legal to boot.

Yup, another stud lock lover here as well.
I only hope that eventually Kershaw would implement this miracle to most of its other knives--preferably the blur first.

ironically, my only locking folders are stud and hawk locks. And I like it that way.

I spec you'll be pleased as all of us have been, so no need to bump this thread...

I kill myself!
