Hey guys i havent really read alot about the speed bump and have never even seen one in person and just wanted some opinions on it. thanks!

Speed and spec bumps are awesome! Its like 2 knives in one. The stud lock is awesome and super easy to use. I like mine!
I'm sure bobsig will be along shortly....

Love my speed bump. Glad I got one from Dave when they were readily available. Stud lock is awesome.

They're pretty awesome. A little chunky though, in my small hands.
Good blade shape.

It looks kinda ridiculous. I don't like how it carries. The bead blasted blade gets rust spots. The blade looks crazy, lots of recurve. The steel dulls fast but is easy to sharpen. I like the stud lock and the g10 texture though.

My bead blast has zero spots and I have yet to have a problem with the many I have owned in bb. I think a fair statement would be some people have a problem with bb due to varying factors.

The steel is just fine on my speed bump ( 13c26n) and very good on my spec bump (s30v). I have not had to sharpen the speed bump that often since I have carried and used it over the past year and a half. Twice myself and lastly by Kershaw.

I love the way it looks both closed and especially open. The recurve is the entire appeal of the blade to me as I stated before it is like having 2 blades in one.

The only dislike I had was the clip. I fixed this by making one out of an extra blur clip and chive clip I had laying around. It is mounted in the same spot as the original one and carrys very well.

One of my favorite knives, but I have to agree on the clip. I may have to modify a clip myself.

The Clash, Speed Bump and Speedform 2 I own all developed little rust spots after carrying and using. The Speedform 2 had spots only on the beadblasted part. The satin parts didn't have any rust spots. The speedbump developed tiny rust spots all over and so did the Clash. This is a known issue with bead blasting so I'm obviously not the only person to experience this. Here is some commentary from Allen Elishewitz on the subject: http://www.knifeart.com/finbyalel.html. Bead blasting increases the surface area of the blade that is exposed to moisture, making it more prone to rusting than other finishes. My ZT 0350 with DLC and stonewashed s30v leek haven't shown a speck of rust. YMMV if you live in a dry area. Where I live it gets very humid in the summer and bead blasted knives are extra work for no gain. There is nothing gained from a BB finish, but stonewashing hides scratches and maintains the steel's corrosion resistance.

I bought the speed bump because it was something like $40 and it looked cool. IMO it's not really a practical EDC unless you're around knife enthusiasts. It looks wicked and I know I'd get negative reactions using it in public. The design is interesting but I don't think it's very practical for EDC for that reason and because of its relatively poor edge retention in comparison to steels like s30v.

It gets razor sharp very quickly but loses its edge quickly in my experience. I didn't thin out the factory bevel. That would improve performance quite a bit but I didn't feel like doing that on the sharpmaker. I don't have the recurve attachment for the WEPS so that wasn't an option.

The clip is bad enough I'd rather just pocket the knife.

I'm sharing my opinions based on my experiences with the knife. YMMV. If you like the design that's awesome. YMMV. You might love bead blasted finishes and that's all fine and dandy YMMV. This is all my opinion. YMMV.

The speedbumps are awesome. The utility of the blade is impeessive, for me at least. And the lock is extremely strong and easy to manipulate. They are dc so a bit hard to find for a good price.

The clip is east to mod, the 3D scales work better with the clip than the flat G10 does. Almost missed this thread

If I wasn't on my phone I would disagree in detail with the above post... Tomorrow perhaps

I live in nc where it's pretty darn humid all year. I have seen no rust spots on my blades. None of them. Not even on my CV blades on my case's (except for patina)
Haven't ever oiled them either.

Oh yea, and if you didn't already know, dlc isn't impermeable (probably not right usage of that word) to rust. It'll still rust on you.

my spec bumps are awesome I have the stone washed versions very cool knife now that both my hands are injured [ put a 1 inch rod all the way trough my left hand shatterd bone on right hand ring finger at work] the stud lock and axis locks are all I've been using.

The blade shape on the bump is very useful. The wharncliffe/recurve hybrid gives plenty of cutting options and I find to be incredibly useful, the swedge is also useful for opening 1 gallon cans

The stud-lock is said to be one of the strongest locks used in a knife, Ken Onion says it is the strongest. Its is easy to operate with one hand, and is one reason I like this lock, I can close it left or right handed easily with only using my hand and not putting my hand in front of a closing blade.

I am impressed with the Sandvik on these, 14C28N I believe, maybe 14C26N. Even after a good amount of use, and when my blade seems like it should be dull I am able to easily cut. It doesnt last as long as S30V and I am use to bigger knives with thicker blades so to me, the bump cuts well.

As for too big and scary for EDC, I dont see that but I also EDC a 0301 often which I never hesitate to use in public. If they are offended easily, Im sure the pistol on my hip will be noticed first. So for discretion I may not be the one to make any recommendations.

The biggest limiting factor of this knife is the pocket clip, while if flows with the design very well it doesn't preform that great on the 1595G10 or AL versions. The 1595G10 was built with left over parts for Amazon, 1423 pieces. The clips works better on the 3D machined G10 scales on the 1596 because the clip is elevated off of the G10. I was able to modify mine easily with a little vise, made it accept thicker pants and bent the bottom of the clip up more to easily slide over clothing. Ya, Im a little late on this reply, finally got the time.
