Hi all, I am setting up my homebrew modified grinder and am trying to find some formulas for calculating RPM's & belt speeds based on my 1725rpm 1.5hp motor using step (3 step) pulleys on the ginder and motor...can anyone help?

look up KMG grinder on google. Go to Rob Finks page (he makes the KMG grinders)
Beaumontmetal.com I think. On his site he lists pully speeds. This may help you.

Use the calculator here to find the pulley rpms

To find the the surface speed of the abrasive belt:

multiply 3.14 by the diameter (in inches) of the drive wheel to find the circumference of the drive wheel.

multiply the circumference (in inches) of the drive wheel by its rpm and divide by 12 for surface feet per minute.

Thanks Greg! That's what Master Tarl needed...(actually WAY more! LOL)

Thanks to all who responded! I hope this thread is useful for others
that do not have a variable speed drive yet!

Regards to all!
