I just saw a Rinkon 1x30 belt/ 6" disc sander combo that has a dial-in speed controller. I am curious about the speed controller on this. Specifically, I have an old Delta 1x30 belt/disc sander and am wondering if I can use the Harbor Freight Router Speed control on it.

The goal is to hold the unit in a vice with the disc sander horizontal for the purpose of performing initial flattening of slip joint parts. I would go to the surface plate and hand sand on sand paper next. The intent is to cut some time off getting parts flat by hand.

I'd say for the price it's worth a try. In looking through the reviews that speed controller can be used for just about any motor rated at 15 amps or less.

Bill is correct. Please ignore my previous remark. The motor you have will not work with that controller.

The answer is a yes and a no. It will probably reduce the speed of the motor. BUT, the motor will overheat and eventually burn up.
