speed problems since the virus problem

Greetings,

Well, back when BF had the problems with the virus/malware in the banners (IIRC...), my computer got infected and had to be taken in to get fixed. Ever since then, I have pronounced slowness issues with the next screen coming up after I hit the "forums" button after I sign in. This is the only site that happens on, and I don't have these issues with my home computer. This one is a PC, the home is an iMac. I do not hit the "remember me" button when I log in. I always delete browsing history, cookies, etc. when I am done with a computer session.

So, can anyone help me? I can usually get to the forums, but there are occasions where I cannot. My basic knowledge of computers is not the greatest.

Thank you in advance,
Mongo

It sounds like you are still using Internet Explorer 8. It has an issue with the page loaded by the Forum tab.You can update to I.E. 9, or download a different browser such as Firefox, Google Chrome or SRWare Iron (Chrome without the Google spyware) or you can use either the quicknav buttons at the bottom of the page or the Forum Categories tab at the top. I was using the Forum Categories tab for a couple of months until Windows Update installed I.E. 9 over my objections.

+1 to the above.

Most of the complaints related to the 'Forum' tab's slow response seem to all have IE8 (or earlier) in common. I"m sure something did change on the site, in the process of troubleshooting the virus thing. But whatever changed, it seems IE8 was unable to deal with it. What little I read about it, suggested there are differences in how different browsers handle 'error' conditions. Most are able to recognize certain bugs, and then work around them automatically. IE8 was the exception to that; it wasn't able to compensate for whatever changes were made to the site. I think most have upgraded or installed a different browser, to fix it. I've been using Firefox all along, and never encountered this issue.
