On the news last night...

A car crashed on I-5 and bursts into flames...The man is trapped in his car...

Another fellow, handicapped from multible surgeries came to the rescue...

He decribed how he pulled his knife with one hand (It looked like a Speed Safe), opened it blade up and cut the seat belt with one stroke, while pulling the man out of the car window by his belt with his other hand...

This is a man who walks with a cane...

The crash victom was burned on 50% of his body but will survive...

And we get to thank a man, "just doing what he had to...", a hero with a pocket knife...:)

These are the stories I like to hear. :) Too bad I still have people asking me, what do you need a knife for?

"The man in the back has a question."

My wife mentioned this to me yesteray afternoon, and then, as could be expected, I forgot to watch the 11:00 news until it was half over, and the story had almost surely run.

According to what my wife told me, the rescuer suffered a nasty gash on his forehead/nose area, that was going to require stitches. Somebody immediately established a fund to help the man cover his medical expenses because he had no medical insurane. The hero then proclaimed immediately that he would give all the funds to the burn victim.

I haven't checked my local paper to see if it made it. I will. If it didn't, I'll try to remember to get out and get a Seattle paper for today. Surely it will be there.

COuldn't ask for better publicity for knife users/carriers.

What a special guy to kick out the window and enter a burning car and cut the poor victim's seat belt off, in the process catching his OWN clothes on fire
while onlookers, who should have been helping, just stood back and watched. And, the HERO was a disabled man to boot! I wish we knew for sure which type of one-handed pocket knife the HERO used.
If he lost his pocket knife in the process of this heroic act, I can't think of a better reason for us to take up a collection and buy this special man a new knife. Is there anyone who knows how to get the ball rolling on a project like this?

Great story.I've always thought that theres 3 types of people, those that see something and take action right away, those that will never help, and those that think and hesitate for to long before doing something.Thank God for the first kind.:)

Man, I missed this when it came out - just glanced at the headline meaning to come back to it. What a great story!

Yah, I read about that in my local newspaper a couple days ago, and watched a spot about it on one of the Seattle news broadcasts, and it really made ME feel GOOD that there still ARE folks that DO give a damn about their fellow humans.:).

...And it WAS nice to see the news media mention a knife being used in a positive manner for a change..

that really pisses me off!

i was in a similar situation about 3 or 4 years ago...
me and some friends were swimming (well, about to go swimming) in a lake. we decided to race across. at the section we were at it wasnt too wide, maybe 70 or 80 feet. anyway,we all jumped in and started swimming...except one.
a friend of mine, when he jumped in,panicked. he didnt expect the water to be so cold. he just sank. like a rock. me and one other guy got across, and turned back to see harter...well,we didnt see him. some ****er across the water was yelling "hey, your friends drowning over here!"
i was confused.why wouldnt the guy jump in and grab him?
**** it,i said. and hopped back in,and raced to the other side, grabbed harter from underneath, and pushed him back above the water (this resulted in my being pushed under) and tossed him to the bank, which was only 2 or 3 feet away (deep lake, very sudden drop off).
when i got up and out of the water,i looked at this ******* and his girlfriend and yelled "why didnt you grab him?!"

because my shoes would have gotten wet.

needless to say this REALLY pissed me off,and the only reason we didnt beat the living **** out of him was because the game warden was just walking up.

sorry to detract from the thread, but i thought i would share this with you folks. it simply amazes me that this mother fukcer would have let my friend drown, all becuase his god damn shoes would have gotten wet.
