Hello all,

I recently received my Speed Stick Tanto from MMHW. It has a 16" Parkerized "American Tanto" blade with an 11" handle. The blade is diferentially tempered 5160, the handle is nicely contoured, black micarta. The balance point is 1" forward from the top of the handle, puting just enough weight onto the blade, but with the size of the handle it equaly out nicely making it really fast in the hand. It is definately lighter than it looks. Unfortunately, the only pic I have is of very poor quality and does not show how truely nice it is, but at least you can get an idea of the measurements. http://images.honesty.com/imagedata/4/9/1/17893491.jpg

Ted's work is awesome! The grind lines are perfect, fit and finish are flawless. This has to be the sturdiest knife I have EVER seen, honestly. To top it all off, MMHW has a great warranty. I highly recommend MMHW to everyone interested in a serious hard use tool. The people behind the company are even nicer than the knives!

Hey Louis, I've got a Speed Stick too, but mine is made by Mennon.

Phil,

Our Speed Sticks are very similar, except yours smells better and you would not want to rub mine under your armpit! I wouldn't want you to either...P U!!

Oy! I found this thread a little late but I thought I'd reply anyway.

Thanks for the nice review, Louis. You are totally right about the quality of these swords (and knives). Ted is probably the most under-rated knife guy out there. I know that if more people were to have the opportunity to play with his stuff, he would be totally backlogged with orders (as it is, he has about a 2 week turnaround). And how about his prices? Great deals on awesome tools. This is why I made his web site, and eventually became his dealer- because I know that his stuff NEEDS to get out there. Anybody interested should see his web site or contact me....

John,

I agree. Ted's work is awesome. If more people handled his work, he would definately have a large backlog. IMO Ted's work is equal, maybe even better then any other of this style of cutlery. To top it all off, he has a great warranty and an outstanding personality.

I have two ?'s

Does MMHW have a catalog?

And how much did/does the Speed Stick cost?

Thanks Rick.

You may think it's funny but wait till it's your turn.

The web site is here. The on-line catalog is basically complete (the print catalog is available, but has fewer knives/swords listed). The Speed Stick is not a regular production sword, but it can still be done. My price is $206 on this sword. Call me at the number on the site if you're interested.
