Guy's can you change out the scales on the speed bump? mine are plastic & I would like to try G-10 or the steel . If so where can I get new scales & how easy are they to change ?

For what you spend on the new scales, you could sell your Speed Bump and buy a Spec Bump and have the better steel too.

Maybe I'll just keep the speed bump & buy a Spec-Bump :D
If one is good then 2 must be better :p

Not just better, its TWICE as good! :D

And this is the part where it gets dangerous to the bank account, if you get three it'll be THREE times as good! And then 4 and then 5... so you see why so many of us can't seem to stop buying them.

Of course if you want to look at it in a way that will keep all this in check you can look at it as percentage of additional goodness.

The most additional goodness per dollar will be that second knife. 100% more goodness!

The third knife will only be an additional 50% more goodness than you have.

The fourth knife will only be another 33.3%, and the fifth 25% and so on.

One would hope that these diminishing returns would be enough deterrent to keep from wrecking the bank account, but the math does not take into account that 1) I don't actually care about the math 2) there are so many amazing knives that Kershaw has already made, that there will be many that you have to get to catch up 3) ALL THE UPCOMING KERSHAW KNIVES ARE AWESOME!!!!:D

Sorry, don't normally shout like that, but it seems like it was worthy. ;)

LOL. that is so true for all of us Kershawnuts.

coaldigger, i second contacting STR about getting handles made.

is it possible to buy new scales directly from kershaw? i love the aluminum handles and the G-10 and wish i could just get some directly from kershaw. i hate the grey hanles on my speed bump. but i must say they have taken a much better beating than i thought they would and the knife actually is holding up better than my ZT 0400. i think what really bothers me is the grey color, it seems cheap and i know the knife doesnt deserve it.

Sorry all, we try not to get into selling parts unless there is a strange circumstance surrounding the knife.

thomas you officially suck...... no dude im just kidding, i totally understand that. you would have people upgrading knives for profit and deception and i think we can all agree that we would rather have production numbers stay consistent rather than you guys be too busy making parts instead of completes. to be honest with you i really didnt like the speed bump at all when you guys sent it to me because of the handles. I thought the thing would be trashed in a day and that the grey scales would scuff easy and look cheap and ugly but the thing is taking serious abuse no problem. If the handle was black and of the same material i would love it even more though. but all in all i even prefer the blade over that of supposed "higher quality" steel as in the spec bump. Even if my blade dulls the day i use it, it only take seconds to put an edge on it. As where i think ive ruined one of my 0400 scavengers by trying to resharpen it. wow sorry i went way off topic. ill start a new thread to finish my babble.
