Greatings,
Anybody have any tips on speeding up sharpening time on the Edgepro. Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question, but some of my blades seem just to take to long to do and I'm talking about knives.

I plan in the near future to be buying a blade made of carbon steel whitch should go faster right?

Any suggestion are met with thanks,
armilite

Yep, you can match the original bevel angle as close as possible to save work, but they are never perfect from side to side or end to end. So you end up spending an hour or two on the first sharpening to create a uniform, precision grind.

Of course you can sharpen the knife without fussing over the back bevels. I think Ben recommends dealing with the back bevels over time rather than all in one job.

Go with a coarser stone! :D

Sharpening stuff the first time is always a chore. Maybe it's the junky knives I buy but I've never seen a factory edge with the same angle on both sides, and sometimes the bevels don't even meet. On top of that most factory angles are way too thick (obtuse) for my liking.

So, yeah, do as Mr. Stamp said. Regrinding seems to take forever but it's definitely worth it, IMHO.
