Hello,

Can anybody tell me how these knives open? And close.

The Boker site shows pictures but doesn't say much. The photos don't show a thumb post - like the Gemini.

Thanks.

You have to push the button to open and close them. You can also find them in Auto. They do not have a pocket clip. THANKS! Kevin I like the Speed Lock but would like to see a pocket clip on it. It is well made.

Thanks for the reply. But I'm new to this, so I didn't completely understand.

To open - you push the button to unlock, then how do you get the blade to come out? I don't see what you grab from the photos. I bought a Buck and there is a little post that you flick with your thumb.

By auto, I assume you mean a conversion. I'm not in the market for that. I don't need that kind of trouble ....

Thanks.

Yes you can get hold of the blade and pull it out or push the button and flick it out. The Top Locks have a place to use your finger nail to open it just like a regular pocket knife. Kevin

I see. Thanks for the info.

It sounds like this knife was designed to be an auto - that's what Boker's web site hints at. For Europe. In non-auto it seems awkward.

I think I'll take a closer look at the Gemini.

Thanks,

I want it to have a hole or thumb stud to assist in opening. I would do the same thing. I just got the new Boker Magnum book and they have some nice new knives coming out. You might want to check some of them out. Good Luck. Kevin

Aloha guys,

Sorry to just jump into your conversation, but I have a button lock KAL47, and a "regular version with thumbstud and liner lock". The button lock operates like the Top Lock and Speed Lock. I could never press the button and "flick it open" though. I have to press the button, and use my other hand to pull the blade out. IIRC, the button also keeps the blade locked in the closed position. In any case, these knives are well made. However...

I am enjoying my new Pohl designed Double Action!;)

The Gemini. I have the Helios and it's basically the same aside from handle material. It's a good, smooth working knife, and the X15 is great IMHO.

Whatever you choose, keep us posted and God bless!
Happy Thanksgiving:thumbup:

Having read some additional info, I'm trending toward the Helios - as my first Boker purchase. It seems to have all the elements I'm looking for.

I also find their Ceramic Infinity interesting.

Thanks for the feedback on your Helios.

Aloha j22knife,

You'll like the Helios. I got mine from the former moderator here, TJT.

As for Ceramics...whoa boy...now that is out of my league! Perhaps my Knifebrother and designer of the Spyderco Forum 2005 knife, C102 Adventura can assist you regarding ceramic blades?;)

God bless and keep us posted:cool:
